Basnes Bush Links Breaking Fresh Grounds

Along the mighty waters of the beautiful Chobe River in Kasane lie many hospitality and tourism enterprises all with one common goal – to create wealth out of tourism business. Among some of the best foreign and locally owned facilities in the area is the LEA registered and supported Basnes Bush Links enterprise, owned by a young and vibrant 30 years old Motswana lad called Bashi Chika. Situated on the shores of the Chobe River, the business provides boat cruises and safari travels to tourists visiting the area.

Bashi started his business through a grant assistance that he got from Kgalagadi Breweries Limited’s Kick Start Project. When he commenced his operations in March 2006 he was able to acquire his first 16 seater boat to provide boat cruising to tourists. Mid 2007 the business managed to break fresh grounds in diversifying its portfolio which led to the acquisition of a 10 seater safari vehicle to transport tourists across the Chobe area including tours of the magnificent Chobe Game Reserve. With the help of a grant from Department of Youth & Culture mid this year, Bashi has been able to acquire a second 16 seater boat soon to be commissioned to deal with the high demand of this specific service in the Kasane area. Both the boat and the safari vehicles are operated by well trained and experienced tour guides. In terms of safety the much fancied boats are fully equipped with life jackets and first aid kits. During excursions tourists are provided with refreshments (snacks and drinks) for which prior arrangements should have been made at the time of bookings.

Basnes Bush Links has positioned itself through, among others, customer-oriented quality service, flexibility in terms of schedule for service provision and speed in delivery of service to customers. The company has also adopted a low pricing strategy and is following the going rate pricing approach by comparing its prices with those of its competitors.

Currently Basnes is planning to expand its business as a result of increasing volume of tourists by acquiring additional equipment and employing more staff. Basnes is at the moment refurbishing an administrative office in Kazungula where all its business will be conducted from.

For all those who would like to enjoy the pleasure of touring the Chobe waters and jungles populated with the mighty big five wildlife species, Basnes Bush Links is the right connection to this adventurous world of tourism.
