LEA Signs MOU with NSIC of India

On the 16th June 2010, in New Delhi, India the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) of Botswana and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Ltd of India signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU), which will see the two entities exchange information, training and technology. The CEO of LEA Dr. Tebogo T.K. Matome and NSIC Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr. H.P. Kumar signed the MOU in the presence of His Honour Lt. Gen. Mompati S. Merafhe, Vice President of the Republic of Botswana who was in India on official visit. Also present was Botswana’s High Commissioner to India Mrs Dorcus Kgosietsile, the Assistant Minister of Agriculture Mr Oreeditse Molebatsi and other senior government officials.
The basic tenets of the MoU are four-fold, videlicet ;
General cooperation between the two Institutions in ensuring the mutual development of SMMEs in the two countries via, interalia, joint venture formations, exchange visits by the organisations’ clients, sourcing of raw materials and markets for clients, etc.
To assist LEA in the setting up, and skills transfer in, the operation of incubation facilities
To assist LEA with the sourcing of cost effective equipment and machinery for LEA clients from Indian manufacturers
LEA to facilitate and assist NSIC in holding machinery and equipment expositions in Botswana to promote Indian technologies
